Kathmandu: Since the onset of this year's monsoon on June 14, a wave of monsoon-related disasters has swept through 50 districts across the nation. The Home Ministry reports that these disasters, encompassing floods and landslides, have resulted in 41 confirmed deaths and 31 individuals missing.

Mahadev Pantha, Chief of the Home Ministry's Disaster and Conflict Management Division, revealed that these natural calamities have also left 55 people injured in various districts. Among the 50 affected districts, 20 have reported fatalities, with lives lost in those areas.

Additionally, six districts—namely Sankhuwasabha, Taplejung, Panchthar, Dolakha, Makawanpur, and Mahottari—have reported individuals missing due to these devastating incidents, as conveyed by Panthi.

The Ministry's data indicates that individuals from 28 districts have sustained injuries, numbering at 55. Throughout these events, a total of 130 houses suffered complete destruction, while 193 houses were partially damaged.

Significant loss of lives and property has been concentrated in the eastern districts of Nepal, particularly Panchthar, Sankhuwasabha, and Taplejung. The monsoon's erratic downpours have triggered floods and landslides across various regions. It's important to note that some districts have yet to experience significant rainfall during this monsoon season.
